High Voltage Electrical / Electronic Engineer

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area (Office Based)

Salary: £33,850 - £65,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Working within our Warhead Engineering Group this role will give you the opportunity to be part of a multidiscipline team responsible for the design, manufacture, assembly and testing of high voltage firing systems. Currently made up of around 12 engineers and scientists, the team works together with our peers in the USA to develop capability and understanding of all aspects of these specialist products from the underpinning science through to system qualification. Challenges are varied from fundamental electronic system design through to understanding the impact on performance when subjected to space flight, radiation or vehicle accident. We have our own laboratories to support this mission.

Applicants will need to have a good understanding of electrical / electronic design, manufacture and test though candidates of all experience levels should apply as we have a range of roles and salaries available to suit the individual.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates would also benefit from knowledge of ANY of the following:

  • High voltage stored power systems

  • High voltage switching (semiconductor, spark gap etc)

  • Switch mode power supply systems

  • Transformers and inductors - specification, design and manufacture

  • Circuit schematic generation, simulation or PCB layout

  • Small electrical / electronic product assembly - soldering, cable assembly

  • Electronic product testing

  • Human factors

  • Packaging and mechanical hardening of electrical / electronic systems

To be considered for the role you will have an HNC/HND or degree qualification in an engineering or physics discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment and possess strong communication skills.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
