Software Engineer Role 

The Digital Intelligence business of BAE Systems delivers solutions that help to protect and enhance the connected world. Our solutions combine large scale data exploitation, ‘intelligence-grade’ security and complex services and solutions integration. We operate in four key domains of expertise: Cyber Security, Financial Crime, National Threat Defence and Digital Transformation.

We have a number of positions open at all levels of experience for Software Engineers who enjoy working with backend technologies such as Java or Node, 

Requirements

-          Having 3 + years’ experience in Backend and API software engineering using associated technologies, particularly Java / Node / TypeScript

-          Have experience in projects driven with Agile methodologies

-          Effective communication.

-          Result Oriented Person.

-          Quick to adapt and learn new technologies.

Responsibilities / Behaviours

• Writing well designed, testable and efficient code
• Responding to client requests, anticipating and meeting client problems and needs using innovative approaches when applicable.
• Involvement in all aspects of the development life cycle.
• Knowledge sharing with colleagues and assisting team members with their objectives.
• Analysis and resolution of software defects
• Contribution to improving software development approaches and quality of deliverables.
• Reporting progress to Scrum Master, highlighting issues before they become a problem
• Provide estimation for engineering task based on delivery project assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Capabilities

Need to have

-  Good experience in a backend development technology such as Java/Node/Python

-  A willingness and capability to learn other technologies

-  Experience using Unit Testing Frameworks

-  Strong communication skills

Nice to have

-         SpringBoot

-         SVN, GIT

-         Experience developing in the cloud (Azure/AWS)

-         Apache Kafka and NiFi experience

-         Familiarity with BDD and TDD tools
