Senior Digital Forensic Specialist

Salary: £49,940 to £54,649 plus a Location allowance of £1,639. You will receive £49,940 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £54,649 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Lambeth

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Metropolitan Police Service's Digital Forensics (DF) department who have secured a large investment to evolve services and increase capacity. DF are recruiting Senior Digital Forensic Specialists who will be responsible for leading the technical development and driving the forensic capabilities of the Digital Devices laboratory.  

The successful candidates will create complex techniques so that forensically acquired data can be applied to the criminal justice system. You will be a technical leader, mentoring a team of Specialists, and developing techniques to be used across the Digital Forensic departments. Your time will be spent in a diverse, dynamic working environment, where the next day always brings a different challenge.

We are looking for a variety of skills that will support today’s complex digital challenges and drive efficiency and capability. There are numerous transferable skills that can be applied to Digital Forensics; software development, hardware engineering, complex repairs, reverse engineering to name but a few.

Please note: Departmental policy is that all members of Forensic Staff should be vaccinated against Tetanus, Hepatitis A and B, successful candidates will need to ensure they are up to date with these prior to joining. Members of Forensic Services need to provide a DNA and fingerprint elimination sample for FS’ embargo database, when accepting this role candidates are agreeing to provide these samples.
