Working with us:

About the role:

 

This role sits within the Environment department, which is responsible for addressing the issues of water pollution from abandoned coal and metal mines across Britain by developing new schemes and supporting the operation of over 75 existing mine water treatment schemes. 

 

Specially, the role sites within the projects delivery team and is responsible for day to day delivery of a major capital new build and refurbishment programme (around £17m annually) through a team of professionals.  Projects can include the delivery of complex new water treatment schemes and refurbishments of our existing schemes.

 

You’ll be:

 

  • Leading a team of professionals undertaking daily line management and a senior project role and technical reviewer role. Providing support and assistance to the Principal Project Manager in the overall management of the Projects Team, stakeholder management and commercial growth. Leading and managing the Coal Programme and budget through programme / financial management and reporting. Delivering selected projects with assistance from the Assistant Project Managers. Managing the internal relationships with key stakeholders such as the technical, property, SHE & operations teams with regards to project delivery. Developing and coaching project manager and assistant project manager roles.

About you:

 

You’ll have

 

  • The skills, to effectively lead and manage a team of professionals to deliver the programme of work. Proven record of delivering programmes or complex projects from conception to construction by identifying and mitigating constraints to development Experience of managing consultants and contractors through the NEC suite of contracts. Experience of managing a budget of £10m+ An ability to manage and prioritise a high-volume workload & multiple projects Excellent budget, programme & risk management skills Highly developed communication and  interpersonal skills Self-motivation and excellent time management The ability to work with other teams to deliver the programme Liaison, negotiation and public presentation skills Report writing skills

We are interested in hearing from people with:

 

  • Experience in the water sector Experience of developing new build projects from conception through to tender stage Experience of developing and delivering refurbishment of existing assets

EU citizens applying for a skilled worker visa must now show they have a job offer from an approved employer sponsor to be able to apply.  Currently, the Coal Authority is not an approved employer sponsor, so we will be unable to employ any new EU citizens wishing to work in the UK after 1 January 2021.

EU citizens who were already living and working in the UK before 1 January 2021 may continue to do so, providing they meet all the requirements and they apply to the EU Settlement Scheme before 30 June 2021.  This will mean that they can continue to live the UK after 30 June 2021.  If you are an EU citizen who has lived in the UK for many years or you have a permanent residence document, you still need to apply.
