WHAT TO EXPECT:

The battery engineering department is responsible for the design, development and engineering sign off of all batteries both designed inhouse and bought in. The department comprises a matrix organisation of designers, test and validation engineers and programme leaders.

Integration Engineers perform a vital role in the battery engineering design maturation process ensuring that the supplier design team are all working in context and are aligned with programme assumptions. The integration team also provide overall technical reporting for design progress toward virtual builds and test progress as stated in RMDV, along with provision of control and documentation for build instrumentation, build deviation documentation, build process and manufacturing process documentation. The key role in the LV battery development is the validation of the software and hardware integration into the programme milestones.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

* Provide BMS ECU hardware specification and critique.
* Cascade SW controls requirements as release plans.
* Primary contact with project design leads driving HW/SW integration and validation at component and vehicle level.
* Ownership of GRADE review with HW suppliers.
* Support the testing of electrical and electronic components to Environmental test standards.
* Work with suppliers to deliver prototypes and parts to schedule.
* Work closely with design functions responsible for wiring harness and connectors, ensuring successful integration of electrical components.
* Responsible to design and deliver HIL platforms for SW validation and verification.
* Compile and present major gateway status for engine integration and report to Vehicle and Powertrain Teams
* Escalate and communicate issues and roadblocks for arbitration and suggest solutions within engines, powertrain and vehicle.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Essential:
* Have a degree or equivalent in electrical / electronic engineering or associated discipline (or relevant time served experience), with a sound understanding of engineering principles
* Knowledge of battery and hybrid propulsion systems
* Familiar with ASPICE and ISO26262
* Considerable experience of automotive controls and associated electrical / electronic hardware
* Possess an expert knowledge of vehicle electrical systems architecture
* Expert knowledge of automotive HW development cycle, and expertise in system and component specification, design, development and sign-off (using relevant tools)
* Demonstrate the ability to diagnose, test and fault find electrical systems
* Track record in managing product life cycle through design control process
* Experience with Matlab/Simulink
* Experience with Vector tools such as CANalyzer

Desirable:
* Familiar with vehicle packaging zone leader processes
* Good understanding of project management milestones and deliverables
* Extruded part and fastener experience.
