AWE is currently recruiting for Senior Electrical Engineers to apply their expertise to a range of exciting projects taking place in both our Operational Trials delivery area and the Orion Laser Facility. Location - Reading/Basingstoke area (On-site role)

Package - £42,950 - £62,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Within this role, the successful candidates main responsibility will be to conduct and deliver electrical operations safely, within our Engineering and Science function and Trials & Test Technology Centre.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Applying engineering principles to analyse and design electrical systems

  • Ensuring tasks and installations comply with engineering regulations

  • Delivering Conceptual designs, Detail designs, Manufacturing specifications, Operational documentation and Validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements

  • Producing high quality reports and presentations on capability metrics

  • Ensuring technical needs are understood, options are considered, and appropriate solutions are implemented within programme constraints

  • Making evidence based professional engineering decisions to solve technical problems within your area of responsibility

  • Leading SME for all electrical systems within a set boundary

  • Leading and advising electrical engineers in the delivery of innovative solutions to complex engineering problems and ensuring that appropriate standards are set, and best practices implemented

  • Coaching and mentoring staff to achieve appropriate levels of competency

  • Planning and directing electrical maintenance activities

Whilst not considered a checklist, candidates would benefit from having any of the following:

  • Proven experience of delivering projects with a consideration for quality, time and cost

  • A high level of electrical engineering knowledge

  • Demonstrable experience in electrical engineering

  • An awareness or understanding of engineering regulations

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Good working knowledge of Excel

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
