AWE is currently recruiting for Systems Engineers at various stages in their career, to contribute to the successful operations of the Orion Facility (the foremost facility in the UK for Laser Physics) providing Systems Engineering skills to AWE programmes; working closely with a Senior Engineer, Project Manager or Engineering Task Manager, to ensure that Systems Engineering methods, tools and processes are used to best effect. These roles offer excellent career progression opportunities, as well as the benefits of having every other Friday off!

Location - Reading/Basingstoke area

Package - £33,850 - £55,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

What will you be responsible for?

  • Contributing to long term plans in support of life-cycle phases using Systems Engineering best practice

  • Analysing and translating stakeholder needs into technical requirements

  • Undertaking requirements derivation, architecture development and system simulation

  • Undertaking modelling and simulation to explore problem space and potential system solutions

  • Undertaking requirements verification and validation and support technology teams' derivation of verification and validation events, test cases, test plans and test specifications, to support integration activities

  • Undertaking test results analysis and documentation

  • Performing trade studies and analysing the relative benefits/merits of competing solutions

  • Supporting development and delivery of viable technical solutions that meet customer requirements

Whilst not considered a checklist, we are keen to hear from candidates who have any of the following:

  • Proven experience in Systems Engineering techniques

  • A strong understanding of Systems Engineering management tools

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Good working knowledge of Excel

Ideally candidates will hold a HND/NVQ4 level in an engineering vocational qualification supported by considerable practical experience or equivalent.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
