WHAT TO EXPECT
This position is part of the AVA (Associative Vehicle Architecture) team which are leading the way in the identification, creation, and embedding of Engineering Automation in order to improve the efficiency, quality and compatibility of Geometry and Engineering for Jaguar Land Rover.
The department's scope is the development of core AVA processes and consequently driving process change by building a significant proportion of the Body and Chassis Engineering AVA models. In addition to this, the team are also responsible for training both Body Engineering and Product Engineering's CAD-based engineers in AVA, and driving the successful use of AVA in live programmes.
This role supports Body and Chassis Engineering's major push in the development of AVA CAE Load Case Templates Automation to improve the efficiency, quality delivery and speed of Body and Chassis Engineering's component delivery. This is achieved by both delivering AVA CAE Templates themselves and by supporting the identification and specification of them. This specific template role is to build AVA CAE templates through combining CAD, CAE and Coding skills as part of a multi-skilled team. The team includes established Engineers, Graduates, Apprentices and other engineers developing AVA CAE template automation. The role may also involve assisting in the scoping of CAE templates where they are technically challenging.
In addition to this you will be completing stories within sprint which contribute to the development of AVA CAE templates in the 3D Experience platform and interacting with other teams through sprint ceremonies such as sprint reviews and technical showcases. In these meetings you will be presenting project findings and helping to facilitate template training sessions, including the upskilling of engineers with no simulation experience in result assessments. You will also support in the identification of new opportunities for automation of CAE load cases (as Templates) and delivering Vehicle Programme Analysis where required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
To succeed in this role you will need to have extensive experience using CAD Engineering tools as well as 3D Experience and/or CATIA. You will be someone that has demonstrable experience of using 3D Experience Platform and Jira as you will be using these to complete day to day activities in this position.
You will be someone that has programming skills in EKL, VBa or Java, as well as having some experience in Finite Element Analysis. In addition to this, you will show a strong desire to deliver engineering improvements in efficiency in the geometry creation process, and will have the ability to manage projects effectively.
