Irish Lights is currently recruiting for an experienced engineering design manager to manage a range of exciting projects in our Coastal Operations Department. This is a mid-senior role, reporting to the Coastal Operations and Property Manager within Coastal Operations.

THE ROLE

The Design, Consent and Compliance Manager is a new role within the Coastal Operations Department. The successful candidate will lead the Design and Support Team in the delivery of all design work to support work activities at our coastal stations. They will ensure that Irish Lights complies with relevant planning and environmental obligations and they will be the ‘Delegated Decision Maker’ for Irish Lights with respect to Appropriate Assessment determinations.

The role will be based in our Dun Laoghaire Office with periodic travel around the coast of Ireland and occasional travel abroad.

THE REQUIREMENTS

You must have an engineering honours degree (level 8 in the NFQ) or equivalent professional qualification with at least 7 years’ experience in relevant engineering design, including experience in environmental management and Appropriate Assessment screening. Experience of project design, preparation of specifications and costings is also required.

A strong track record of team building, planning and leadership skills are essential, along with excellent communication and people skills. Strong ICT, report writing and record keeping skills are required, with the ability to prioritise work and work to deadlines.
