Mechanical Engineers (Engineering Trials)

AWE currently have excellent opportunities for Mechanical Engineers to be responsible for managing Engineering Qualification Trials supporting a range of AWE products at various points in their product life cycle, including surveillance of deployed systems. These roles are ideal for an experienced engineer looking to take on more responsibility and develop their career, as you will be managing trials activities from start to finish.

Location - Reading/Basingstoke area

Package - £34,000 - £58,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The successful candidate will be delivery focused, with strong attention to detail. On a day to day basis, you can expect to liaise with a wide range of customers and delivery partners to design, develop and field trials to meet customer needs. You will be responsible for the delivery and engineering management of trials activities from end to end.

Ideally you will have demonstrable experience in most of the following areas:

  • Generating and managing scoping and planning documentation, and provision of estimates for future activities

  • Experience in managing the manufacture of engineered parts - through from quotation to delivery and acceptance of manufactured parts

  • Working within multi-disciplined teams

  • Delivery of complex engineering trials/projects through Product Lifecycle Management procedures, including configuration management and quality control

  • Contributing to the production and delivery of high-quality technical reports and presentations, and supporting technical materials

  • Evidence of working to applicable standards

  • Identification and execution of opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and business improvements

  • Ability to construct verification, validation and qualification documents providing evidence to support customer requirements

  • Analysis of technical data leading to the production of technical assessments

  • A good level of technical engineering and scientific knowledge with the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Experience of working within high-hazard areas

  • Willing to travel within the UK and internationally to support delivery as required

To be considered for the role, ideally you will have an HNC/HND or degree in a Engineering discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment and possess strong communication skills.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
