Engine Performance Simulation Engineer

Job description:

We are looking for an Engine Performance Simulation Engineer to work within virtual engineering for our vehicle and powertrain programmes. You'll be responsible for concept simulations, modelling expertise and tools from research through to the delivery phase.

As an Engine Performance Simulation Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting CAE modelling, analysis and reporting. We are looking for an Engineer with good experience and exposure to Virtual Engineering who can contribute to engine programmes with ICE performance simulation.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Simulation of engine performance using industry-standard software GT Power
* Test data analysis using software such as MATLAB and AVL Concerto
* Support the resolution of technical issues using appropriate virtual and physical test techniques
* Management of CAE data and analysis plans to support programme gateways
* Liaison with internal customers of our business as well as offshore operations where necessary
* Support the continual development of tools and techniques which enhance the capability, and improve quality and robustness of Virtual models


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

* Understanding of engine technologies and their role in delivering Powertrain Systems performance
* Understanding of Powertrain attributes, how these are delivered and balanced as part of programme delivery
* Knowledge of virtual validation techniques and their implementation on Powertrain programmes


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential -

* Working knowledge and experience of CAE methodologies and virtual verification techniques
* Previous experience in delivering engine performance simulation projects
* Highly competent in the use of industry-standard software packages: GT Power, AVL concerto, Matlab
* Experience in project and people management skills
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred


Desirable -

* Knowledge of PT systems and associated technologies
* Capability in the use of
* MS toolset, CATIA V5/V6, Java or Python scripting
