Job Details

National Energy Action (NEA), the national fuel poverty and energy efficiency charity, is recruiting for a Technical Evaluation Co-ordinator.

NEA aims to eradicate fuel poverty and promote energy efficiency to low-income and other vulnerable households through working in partnership with central and local government, fuel utilities, the health sector, consumer groups and NGOs.

This post provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to help the charity build its profile amongst regional stakeholders whilst being responsible for leading on NEA’s socio-technical field trials to better understand how innovation and technologies can be used to enhance outcomes for fuel poor customers, who may be reliant on a low income and/or living in a vulnerable situation.

NEA’s Innovation and Technical team are knowledgeable and empathetic, with experience of research methodologies, including the design of questionnaires, data collection and analysis relating to domestic properties.  Results help us to understand the impact of energy efficiency interventions on a client’s comfort and affordability, and any impact on the thermal efficiency of the property, alongside energy costs and comfort.

The successful post holder will also have responsibility for delivering tailored technical energy advice to householders, which may include communicating complex information about energy, heating systems and their controls in an accessible way.

The post sits within the Operations Directorate and is part of a dynamic and caring team of professionals who go the extra mile to support their clients, some of whom may be in difficult circumstances.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate understanding or experience of energy efficiency, heating and insulation technologies and their application in domestic settings.   The post will suit an experienced candidate looking to work full time, with a flexi time arrangement.  NEA’s Head Office is in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and would look to base the successful candidate there although though we are still working on a temporary remote basis.  The job description, which you will find on NEA’s website, provides a list of the duties of the post and the person specification provides the list of essential and desirable criteria.
