WHAT TO EXPECT

As an Advanced System Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the daily operation of test bed automation systems and integration of associated analytical equipment, instrumentation and application systems in the JLR power train chassis dyno test facilities in Whitley B12 and the new engineering centre (NPDC). You will create and support an effective a toolchain and workflow that meets user requirements for engineering the JLR Product and fully meeting the legal requirements required by the JLR Certification teams and Government bodies. The role will support pure ICE, hybrid and BEV vehicles and use a range of on-line and off-line tools, and the day-day systems issues resolution and minor enhancements to maintain effective productive work using formal problem-solving methodology. You will support the Power Train Teams to meet the programme timing plans by providing the appropriate functionality and robustness, support overall system robustness, uptime and disaster recovery actions in support of various metrics and KPIs used by different teams

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilites

As an Advanced System Engineer, you will have a passion for the automotive industry, knowledge of Chassis Dynamometer test, good delivery skills and the ability to multitask. You will be comfortable in a challenging and busy environment and able to deliver to deadlines. The ideal candidate will be resilient and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

Knowledge of an automation system
Knowledge of Scripting/programming in a control environment
Knowledge of instrumentation and systems
Good communication and interpersonal skills


Desirable:

Knowledge of AVL iGEM2 or OrbitX
Knowledge of associated test bed instrumentation and systems (INCA, gaseous and particulate emissions systems etc.)
Knowledge of global emissions regulation
Experience of working in a Vehicle Emission Test Facility
Knowledge of test facility Mechanical & Electrical hardware
Good negotiation skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Degree or relevant equivalent experience
Working knowledge of change control and change management processes
