AWE are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to support our Production Teams within our Fissile Technology Centre.

Here you will be able to utilise your experience leading and supervising teams of operational staff to safely deliver the programme, tasks and products in line with customer requirements to time, cost and quality.

Key Accountabilities for the role:

  • Successfully plan and deliver authorised programmes, tasks and projects to time, cost, and quality for the operational area
  • Leadership of direct reports to enable successful delivery of the plan
  • Report up to the Production Delivery Manager key updates in a timely manner
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards, and team performance, in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player
  • Willing to become a Work Supervisory Officer

Key Responsibilities or the role:

  • Providing adequate supervision of all operations within the area of responsibility
  • Responsible for the day to day planning and execution of the programme within manufacturing areas, to meet the plan
  • Engage and support relationships at a local level to promote high performing teams
  • Ensure staff are competent and trained to carry out assigned tasks safely to time, cost and quality in aid of the manufacturing programme
  • Support the delivery performance of the production scheduling to meet customer requirements
  • Manage Key Performance Indicator metrics on schedule, quality, safety, delivery and cost
  • Lead and deliver the local Accountability Board (Visual Management Boards)
  • Actively engage and support the Production Associate development process
  • Give advice and guidance on career development including coaching, provision of feedback and providing appropriate support
  • Promote and sponsor operational excellence and drive all actions aimed at continuous process improvement
  • Work effectively with others and building required relationships and interfaces to support delivery of the Programme
  • Provide a diverse and inclusive working environment that allows individuals to flourish and realise their potential
  • Work with others to form high performing teams
  • Adopt a 'See It, Own It, Solve It' mind-set, by identifying obstacles to success and taking ownership to find solutions to those problems
  • Responsible for undertaking other duties as reasonably required from time to time by line and task management, including work at other places within the UK or overseas; this will be done in consultation with you, and in accordance with any requirements contained in your Contract of Employment
  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties as aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs

Successful Applicants are required to:

  • Have previous experience of production operations and supervising/tasking teams
  • Have a proven background within Engineering and preferably a knowledge of precision machining (do not need to be a machinist)
  • Be willing to perform or undertake training to perform secondary roles such as emergency response roles
  • Demonstrate good communication skills with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders across the organisation
  • Have an awareness of operational excellence, continuous improvement activities and their methodologies
  • Able to work extended hours for short periods during campaigns of work

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role, be willing and able to work in designated areas to working patterns and may be required to work shifts.
