Salary: Up to £40,000 dependent on experience plus bonus and benefits

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Calibration and Maintenance team at Stevenage, to commission, calibrate, maintain and repair various test platforms to component level.

The work is varied, challenging and interesting, and will require you to work closely with the rest of the team and others, including test equipment and product design teams.

The role may also offer opportunities to travel within the UK, Europe, and sometimes further afield.

What we're looking for
  • Minimum qualification HNC/NHD in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical measurement techniques.
  • Good understanding of calibration principles and processes.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently.
  • Electrical/Electronic qualifications and experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience in precision dimensional metrology techniques would be an advantage.

The Role

  • Responsible for the initial commissioning, routine calibration, periodic maintenance and repair of various electro-mechanical and hydro-pneumatic test platforms, used during the design, manufacture and in-service support of our products.
  • Calibration of test platforms using defined instructions, handbooks, drawings or specifications.
  • Maintain electro-mechanical test/measurement equipment and tooling to component level
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic test systems, including high pressure gasses, and pure air systems.
  • Generate clear and comprehensive calibration/maintenance records for traceability purposes.
  • Mentor more junior staff and share best practice with the team.
  • Represent the calibration department at Integrated Production Team meetings, to provide technical information/advice when requested
  • Provide technical advice/guidance on C & M measurement.
