Laser-Scan Engineering Ltd, based on the outskirts of Cambridge, are looking to recruit for the following role:
Laser-Scan Engineering installs and services high resolution plate-making equipment within the security printing industry, in some cases directly for the end user and in others as an intermediary on behalf of a major printing press manufacturer. The end users are spread across the globe and therefore site visits often require careful planning, often require visas and nearly always involve air travel. Our engineers will spend a significant proportion of their time away from home and a flexible attitude to this is a must as we cannot honour our commitments without it.
The ideal applicant will be qualified to at least HNC level in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and have previous experience in a field-based role. You should be comfortable working with computers, particularly Windows based systems, as our remit also includes software upgrades and network maintenance on customer sites. You must be confident working on your own, but you will be joining a small close-knit team with years of experience that are always on the other end of the phone to assist if required. Experience within the printing industry is advantageous, as is a knowledge of laser imagesetters, although appropriate training will be provided as required to the successful applicant.
We will put you up in quality hotels within walking distance of quality restaurants, you will usually be working office hours when on site, and you will get to travel the World at our expense whilst others pay for the privilege. In return we expect you to show absolute commitment to our goals whilst you are representing the company; when on site you must always be presentable and conscientious, be polite and diplomatic in all interactions with the end user and deliver them a service that leaves them in no doubt they are getting value for money. That way we all win.
This role will operate on a remote working basis from the engineer’s home address whilst in the UK with a requirement to attend the office as and when necessary. Our airport of choice is usually London Heathrow and transport to and from the airport is with a transport service, hence a company car is not included within the contract. Our benefits include 5 weeks paid holiday each year in addition to statutory holidays, time off in lieu for weekends or Bank Holidays worked, a discretionary bonus scheme, private health cover, company pension scheme and travel bonuses when away from home.
Starting salary: £40k+
If you believe you can add value to the company then please submit your C.V. with a covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org . We are open to persuasive arguments/pitches from those that don’t fulfil all the requirements but may have relevant experience or aptitude to make it work.
