This role will develop material modelling tools and datasets to enable JLRs virtual engineering structural CAE teams to robustly deliver the engineering sign off for vehicles

This role will focus on the development and delivery of polymer modelling technologies, methods and toolsets including the research and deployment of new polymer test methods, data analysis methods and CAE modelling methods as part of the Materials Engineering departments Materials Characterisation team at Gaydon.

Main areas of responsibility are the development and delivery of the departments polymer characterisation methodology (including test data generation, test data analysis and storage, CAE modelling methodology, validation correlation and reporting). This will cover the development of improved test methods, scripts for test data extraction and analysis, and creating and running CAE correlation models, to deliver and extract the relevant data that Materials Engineering team and its customers require for CAE engineering tools such as LS-DYNA, ABAQUS and Optistruct.

Key Accountabilities

* Support development of CAE polymer material cards using engineering knowledge and experience combined with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) techniques, to deliver robust material cards.
Run CAE analysis of correlation issues, summarise results and feedback conclusions to CAE customers.Work with materials engineering core teams to develop and deliver CAE material cards within defined deadlines and programme time constraintsUtilise CAE modelling knowledge and awareness of manufacturing process effects on properties to ensure due consideration is given to manufacturing noises in developing the material modelling strategy.Support projects and CAE teams including the feedback of results as required through design / project reviews. * Support and present at engineering reviews with key stakeholders: CAE customer teams, PAT teams, Programme teams
* Ensure project documentation for each project is completed and released at end of project.
* Liaise with all internal CAE customers across our business as well as offshore operations where necessary
