What to expect

The Suspension Function Group sits within the Chassis Technology Area as part of the Body Chassis Product Engineering Organisation.

The Suspension Function Group are responsible for delivery of Electric Drive Unit and Powertrain Mounting Systems, Suspension Bushes, Passive and Active Dampers, Anti Roll Bars, Active Roll Control Systems / Air Suspension Systems / Coil and Air Springs and Active Suspension Systems working within an AGILE Framework.

Role
An opportunity has arisen to join the team and lead the integration of Air / Coil Spring Damper Modules.
This role also has commodity responsibility for damper top mounts and springs aids.

Working closely with Suppliers / Group Leaders across the Suspension Function Group and adjacent Body Chassis Commodity Group Leaders to deliver World Class Spring and Damper Assemblies to Quality, Cost and Time.

As part of our drive to become Best in Class for Quality a significant part of the role is leading a project to bring testing of Coil and Air Spring Damper Modules in house.

The role requires an individual with demonstrable experience of delivering complex mechanical components / systems and projects from concept to Production.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Manage a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate module concepts, features and alternatives, develop production drawings
* Manage matrix reports - coordinate and influence a cross-functional team to ensure robust delivery. Lead a team through the engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for vehicle programs on time, quality and cost
* Build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and senior stakeholders. Manage conflict and negotiate between parties, where required, to maintain engagement whilst delivering against a plan
* Manage Module component costs, investment, vendor tooling, design, and development
* Develop, agree and deliver the test plan, confirm parts availability for all stages and ensure cross-functional requirements are integrated in module development
* Manage project cadence and ensure transparent communication and escalation through:Developing and maintaining the Module Plan
* Monitoring tasks across the life cycle of the project

* Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested



What you'll need

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:
* Experience of managing a multidisciplined team
* Experience of budget and target management
* Understanding of Chassis Systems / Performance Requirements and their influence on Attributes i.e. D&R / Dynamics / ORC / NVH.
* Thorough understanding of Systems Engineering
* Experience of delivering complex mechanical systems from concept to production
* Demonstrable experience of delivering complex projects to Quality, Cost and Time
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
* Competent in Issue resolution methodology and application (e.g. 8D)
* Knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes
* Failure mode avoidance experience with demonstrable knowledge of associated processes such as DFMEA
* Knowledge of Agile methodologies and awareness of JIRA use to manage the scrum activities
* Knowledge of Chassis development toolsets i.e. Simpack / 2021x / Matlab


Desirable:
* Proven ability to build and manage multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments
* Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
