AWE currently has exciting opportunities for Mechanical/Materials Engineers at various stages in their career, to be responsible for the through life management of our core Warhead design. If you are looking for a role that offers career progression, this is the role for you!

Nuclear Explosive Engineering and Through Life Management

Location: Reading/Basingstoke area (on-site role)

Salary: £33,850 - £59,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

The day-to-day activities and responsibilities of the role will depend on your skills and experience. You will likely lead or support the engineering design of warhead components, the management of obsolescence issues associated with legacy hardware, and the collation, interpretation and reporting of system monitoring activities.

Ideally you will have demonstrable experience of working on multi-disciplined projects and be familiar with most of the following areas:

  • Product Lifecycle Management including configuration management and quality control

  • Gathering technical data from multiple sources and disciplines and evaluating this to inform decision making and product stewardship through the full product life cycle

  • Preparing and delivering technical reports to present to senior and external stakeholders

  • Application of quality systems to engineered products

  • Demonstrable evidence of working to applicable design standards

  • Stakeholder management in a high pressure environment

Whilst not considered a checklist, candidates would benefit from knowledge and experience of:

  • Working in a nuclear, regulated, or other high hazard industry

  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior engineers

  • Applicable regulations, standards, and codes of practice, relative to the above subjects

  • Evaluating technical data and presenting data to stakeholders at all levels

To be considered for the role, ideally you will have an HNC/HND or degree in an engineering discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
