AWE is currently recruiting for Electrical Design Engineers to join the Compliance function at AWE, providing appropriate design and compliance guidance to AWE's Engineering, Asset and Project communities.

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary - £33,850 - £57,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting for Electrical Design Engineers to provide designs for the Facility Design Authority (FDA) such that utilities, infrastructure, engineering processes, equipment and facilities and compliant with legislation, standards and requirements associated with engineering design throughout the facility lifecycle.

Key accountabilities:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislative documentation/standards associated with design engineering

  • Ensure the design intent is maintained throughout the lifecycle

  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure overall design intent in maintained

  • Be the point of contact for electrical expertise

Whilst not considered a checklist, the successful candidate would benefit from having any of the following:

  • Knowledge and experience of electrical building services covering; LV, distribution, general power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, lightning protection systems, all in a diverse range of facilities

  • Knowledge of hazardous area installations (DSEAR/ATEX)

  • Knowledge of HV and LV distribution for Utility supplies

  • Previous experience in commercial, industrial, and regulated environments

  • Good knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, and codes of practice, relative to the above subjects

  • Experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings and interpret data in written/numerical form on electrical systems


To be considered for this role, candidates must hold HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
