Atkins is proud to be working at the heart of the challenges in the Energy industry. Our team is currently delivering work across the power generation, energy storage and decarbonisation sectors throughout Europe as well as supporting other Energy and infrastructure business sectors. We are in a position where we need to grow our team to enhance our capability and strengthen our service offering. As such, we are looking for an experienced Process Safety Engineer.

The successful candidate will be part of an energetic, driven, expanding team, focused on meeting the net zero challenges inherent within the future of the Energy Sector. You will have the right blend of technical expertise, creativity and commitment to bring our solutions and projects to life. You will be positive and enthusiastic, a confident communicator at all levels, and above all, a team player.

What you can bring?

  • Experience in consequence modelling software for studies such as Concept Safety Evaluations, Fire Hazard Analysis or QRA.
  • Experience in creating event trees and fault trees.
  • Prior involvement in planning and supporting hazard workshops e.g. ISD, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie, ALARP.
  • Proven knowledge of legislative requirement associated with major hazards, examples of which may include COMAH, Hazardous Substances Consent, Land Use Planning or Offshore Installation (Safety Case).
  • Experience in undertaking DSEAR risk assessments and the development of hazardous area classification documents.
  • A good understanding of project development, engineering design and asset life cycles.
  • Ability to prepare proposals, coordinate bids/proposals and win new projects.

Essential Requirements:

  • University Degree in an appropriate science, engineering, or numerate subject.
  • Experience working in process and energy related industries.
  • Experience of conducting hazard analysis.
  • Ability to apply your knowledge and experience to support the development of new and innovative processes and high quality technical reports.
  • Ability to provide a customer-focussed service.
  • Motivated and driven to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality.
