Automation Test Developer

Role Summary

As an automation test developer you will be expected to develop test automation scripts using test automation tools & guidelines. You will collaborate with the lead and scrum team to refine stories, agree on definition of done. You will be expected through peer reviews to reinforce standards and best practises for programming tools and techniques. You will positively contribute towards coding velocity, maintainability and re-usability. You will have the ability to take each issue as far as possible, often to the point of being able to suggest a fix.

What you will be doing

• Deliver quality assured automation scripts using web based automation tools (e.g. Selenium, RestAssured)

• Participate in daily scrum calls and use the body of knowledge to explain progress and propose possible solutions for blockers

• Work with lead and scrum master during planning and refinement sessions to help agree backlog

• Produce reports on system quality and metrics on test cases and defects

• Mentor and support junior team members, share knowledge and experience both within the projects you are working on and with the wider BAE test community

 What we are looking for

• Familiarity with any automation test framework preferably Cucumber, BDD etc. and should have contributed to the development/implementation of automation test scripts.

• Scripting and executing functional tests

• Ability to evaluate test results against the requirements.

• Experience working with version control systems (e.g. Git)

• Extensive work experience using Linux (CentOS) as their development environment.

• Experience of writing SQL statements using Oracle  / MySQL / PostgreSQL / DB2

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Should have worked on projects using Agile framework (understand stories, contribute during planning and refinements)

Desirable competencies and experience

• Experience of working with programing languages such as Java / C++ / Python etc.

• Experience working with Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, Team City)

• Using IDEs (e.g. IntelliJ, Eclipse etc.)

• Experience using defect and test management tools (e.g. JIRA) to track defects and manage tests
