WHAT TO EXPECT
The Powertrain Networks team goal is to provide robust network communication between the powertrain controller and vehicle so distributed systems work efficiently by sharing information, feedback & control.
The vehicle network is the information highway of the vehicle, exchanging data between over 150 electronic control modules at a speed and robustness level so it can be used for real time vehicle control.
As a Networks System Development Engineer, you will be working in the team connecting powertrain information with these networks.
Jaguar Land Rover is going through a rapid time of change with a move towards electrification and change in network technology. Powertrain software will be more interconnected with the rest of the vehicle than ever before. Jaguar Land Rover are moving towards agile working mindset and the successful candidate will work as part of the Powertrain Networks squad, in a collaborative approach to deliver regular updates to customers.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilites
As a Networks System Development Engineer, your Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities will include calibration and validation of Networks software functions, on both vehicle and HIL rig test environments, collaborating with internal customers and external, often offshore, suppliers to develop robust vehicle systems, and leading design reviews to check supplier's proposed solutions meet the expected requirements. You will also be involved in fault finding, resolution and developing standards and test methods to ensure continuous improvement of networked vehicle systems, and the development of design data handling capabilities and automation of testing and data analysis methods.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
A clear understanding of data coding, packing and transmission on communication networks
An Engineering degree (preferable with Electronics/networks content)
Proven knowledge of vehicle systems and networks
Understand and interpret software and system documentation and structure diagrams
Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and Excel competency to produce plans, presentations and reports.
Desirable:
Use of software programming to assist efficient data processing (Excel VBA, Matlab, Python)
Experience of developing and testing vehicle networks- CAN, Flexray, LIN, CAN -FD
Experience of using of CRETA, INCA, and Canalyser software tools.
Awareness of System Engineering and requirements capture and development
Knowledge of AUTOSAR
