Job Details

Energetic Operations Group is currently looking for a Team Leader, preferably with an Explosive, Engineering or Science background, to manage, develop, shape and lead the Offsite Explosive Trials team. The ideal candidate should have experience of successfully developing high-performing teams and a proven track record of people focus, driving delivery, performance, and continuous improvement.

This role is imbedded in the Trials and Test Tech Centre and primarily based in Aldermaston, but involves periodic travel and attendance to offsite trials elsewhere in the UK.

Package - £42,650 - £60,000 (Salary dependent on skills and experience)

Location - Reading area (with periodic travel and attendance to trials around the UK)

What will you be responsible for?

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team at a local level to deliver team and personal objectives safely and securely to meet our operational plans

  • Assessing staff performance, measured against agreed personal objectives

  • Continuing to embed the culture change to underpin a Future Ready capability

  • Managing resources in a safe, secure and cost-efficient manner

  • Ensuring that the work undertaken by the team is consistent with AWE strategy, policies, processes, procedures, and quality standards while minimising risk to delivery of the Integrated Technical Programme

  • Being responsible for the technical quality of the work undertaken by the team and/or teams through appropriate internal (i.e. with Subject Matter Experts) and external reviews

  • Maintaining a high level of knowledge and awareness in field of technical specialism; understanding the industry challenges and changes which could impact AWE

  • Helping to develop a robust succession plan, to ensure business continuity

Whilst not considered a checklist, candidates would benefit from having the following:

  • Experience in leading a successful team whilst adhering to Company policies and procedures

  • Significant proven experience delivering technical projects to time and quality

  • Strong technical leadership with the ability to develop internal/external technical collaborations and influence project direction

  • Proven track record of driving delivery, performance and continuous improvement

  • A degree in an engineering, scientific or STEM discipline, equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent experience

Candidates must be willing to obtain and maintain the relevant security clearance.
