Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working, however this role will require a strong on-site presence
The opportunity:
Environmental Engineering is integral within all MBDA land, sea and air based weapons system projects. Your role as will be to provide technical management and leadership across the environmental test, structural test and facilities teams.
You will lead UK Environmental Test, Structural Test and Facilities Teams to deliver work packages as agreed with projects, provide clear and positive leadership to the Test Department, be responsible for the health and safety aspects of the mechanical, climatic and structural test laboratories, and provide technical management and supervision of the Environmental Engineering laboratory infrastructure, including acquisition of facilities to ensure the test laboratory facilities meet current and emerging needs.You will provide technical expertise, support investigations into project failures and develop solutions. You will support the definition of test requirements, development of specifications and preparation of sophisticated engineering design solutions with respect to shock, vibration and structural test activities. You will also initiate and lead process and technology improvements to promote best practices in environmental/structural test strategies to meet future needs.The motivated and collaborative team perform crucial design aid and qualification test activities across all development projects. There is a broad range of skills and experience within the team and strong team spirit. The team operates in an ambitious environment but is constantly passionate about continuous improvements in how it operates, coming up with innovative solutions daily.
What we're looking for from you:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience / Chartered Engineer desirable
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, ideally including technical supervision of test laboratories
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical & climatic environments and associated environmental test equipment/facilities
  • Experience of environmental defence standards, test and analysis processes, measurements and instrumentation, ideally within the Defence Sector
  • Proven expertise in the field of shock and vibration analysis and simulation tools would be beneficial
