Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £55,450 - £87,650 (dependent on skills and experience)

The Facility Design Compliance & Technical Advisory Group (FDCTAG) provides engineering advice and design review services to support continued operations in existing facilities and achieve design compliance for new capital projects. Civil, Structural & Architecture (CS&A) is one of the key disciplines within FDCTAG, with a team of 7 technical authorities and specialists covering the following specialisms: civil; structural; architecture; seismic; explosion effects on structures; building regulations; radiation shielding; and structural fire engineering.

As Lead Technical Authority you will be a focal point and signpost for advice, information and expertise about policy, best practice, engineering knowledge and standards relating to CS&A.

Within this role you will:

  • Be the company focal point and signpost for advice, information and expertise about policy, best practice, engineering knowledge and standards relating to CS&A

  • Be the company focal point for the Office of Nuclear Regulation on corporate issues related to CS&A discipline

  • Be supported by the team of CS&A technical authorities and specialists and, where required, external subject matter experts

  • Lead and manage the CS&A team. This will include performance development, continuous improvement, and management of the team

  • Ensure that CS&A guides and standards are periodically reviewed and updated

  • Support the Group Leader of FDCTAG and Chief Engineer (Engineer Site & Assets) when requested

  • Review Design Substantiation/Assessment Report and attend design reviews in support of the Design Review Team Leader

  • Provide due governance and management to meet relevant Nuclear Licence Conditions, safety codes and quality standards

The successful applicant is likely to:

  • Be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer

  • Have extensive experience in civil/structural engineering project delivery

  • Have experience in the nuclear industry, or other highly regulated industries

  • Have experience in leading and managing teams

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
