Job title: Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (AVC Integration)

What you'll be doing:

    Ensuring adequate systems integration activity is being applied across AVC, ensuring compliance to the appropriate standardsEnsuring coherent functional maturity management AVC Systems o Capturing and mitigating any emergent risks resulting from different cross system maturityEnsuring critical AVC functions are aligned across delivery streams and their respective programme schedulesCo-ordinating activities in support of issue resolution across the AVC functionsActing as the focal point for the development and coordination of a robust qualification programme for AVC

Your skills and experiences:

    STEM Degree or equivalent experience in industryPrevious Experience in Systems Engineering (Ideally the later Stages of the Engineering Cycle)Preferably Chartered or willingness to become chartered in the not so distance futureDetailed and comprehensive understanding of complex Systems Integration, is not the system 'expert', but has a depth of understanding within own discipline and is able to discuss and understand context and implications of technical issues across several other engineering disciplinesUnderstanding of how activities interrelate and interact between functional areas aligned to the same contract, understands in detail the technical specification aligned to the functional area of activity. Requires a limited understanding of the external environmentRealising complex engineering developments to meet exacting specifications and requirements, involving the resolution of conflicts, development of trade-offs and delivery of solutions. Developing innovative and creative solutions to challenging engineering problems and issues

The Active Vehicle Control team:

You will be working in the Active Vehicle Control integration team helping us to design, develop, integrate, manage, and support control systems for in-service/future submarines. You will have a good understanding of the inputs, flow of decisions and dependencies that will impact system design as well as product delivery. As we move towards a model-based approach to Engineering, our Systems Engineers will continue to develop a wide-range of skills and experience across all areas and disciplines, and we are able to offer real opportunities for personal and team development to ensure that the professional capability of the business and individual are maintained and improved.
