The High Voltage Charging System is key in JLR's electrification strategy. The High Voltage Charging team is responsible for the design and advanced development &/or selection of charging components for our electrification programmes.

The High Voltage Charging System Lead engineer will be a key role in development of JLR's future vehicles programs. As the successful candidate you will lead the design of multiple software and electronics hardware based functions and be responsible for integrating these functions into JLR's High Voltage (HV) charging systems.

You will be responsible for supporting the development of all the requirements for specific HV Charging functions, reviewing the associated Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) material, functional safety deliverables, cyber security deliverables and testing of each function to ensure suitability for production. It will be necessary to discuss suitable software environments with suppliers to ensure JLRs software can be integrated into supplier delivered code.

A detailed understanding of High Voltage Charging Systems and its operation is needed in order to help design, review and refine JLRs future High Voltage Charging Systems for their intended applications, ensuring their robustness and minimising cost.

Key Responsibilities

The High Voltage Charging System Lead engineer will lead the development of new technologies and standards, particularly:

* Responsible for the development of new and exciting charging system features and functions.
* Responsible for updating JLR standards in line with existing and upcoming international standards
* Issuing Test Procedures to ensure any new/updated high voltage charging feature or function can be adequately tested
* Responsible for the management of HV Charging System related software requirements, linked to the various software functions of the system
* Responsible for the rectification of software and hardware issues related to specific High Voltage Charging system issues
* Accountable for the development of rigs to help with software testing, debugging and validation



* You must have significant knowledge & practical experience of High Voltage Electronic Charging systems
* You must have significant knowledge & practical experience of the software development processes.
* Project management, Leadership and planning skills are essential, along with good teamwork and communication skills. Strategic thinking is also essential.
* Significant experience of D&R, Quality processes including 8D, FMA process as well as requirements and standards writing.
* MSc/MEng level qualification in Electrical or Electronics engineering, Mechatronics, Power Electronics or similar


* Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD communication protocols.
* Use of Hardware In the Loop (HIL) rigs
* Knowledge of ASPICE
* Functional Safety knowledge (ISO26262)
* Knowledge of Cyber security systems and techniques
