Senior Electronic Design Engineer

 

Would you like to join us and help to define the future of global maritime defence capabilities? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Electronic Design Engineer at our site in Broad Oak (Portsmouth), Cowes, or Great Baddow with hybrid working. Periods of work at the Broad Oak site will be required during certain phases of the project.

 

As a Senior Electronic Design Engineer, you will be responsible for detailed electronic circuit design including component selection, evaluation, simulation, schematic capture, and preparing guidance for PCB (Printed Circuit boards) design teams.

 

This role will provide you with the opportunity to join right at the beginning of a major new project. You will be joining an experienced and well-equipped team at this key phase. You will see the lifecycle through from design, test and production phases to introduction into service.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Electronic Design Engineer will involve:

 

  • Carrying out detailed electronic circuit design including component selection, evaluation, simulation, schematic capture, and preparing guidance for PCB (Printed Circuit boards) design teamsSpecification of bespoke procured hardwareCompleting design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques including support to EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) test houses and customer installationsInterfacing with related disciplines including EMC, systems engineering, mechanical/thermal engineering, Integrated Logistics Support, Safety, Product Data Management, and manufacturing areasWorking with embedded software and PLD (Programmable Logic Device) engineersSupporting system integration activities

 

Your skills and qualifications:

 

  • A degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a strongly related subjectExperience of generating component level designs for introduction into volume productionSignificant experience in board-level analogue design including op-amps, transistor-level designSignificant experience in board-level digital design including processor interfacing, memory devices, PLD interfacing, UARTs, SPI, I2C, Ethernet and ADC/DAC devices and techniquesExperience of design proving, integration, and defect resolution

 

What we are looking for in you:

 

You will have a good understanding of how your own activities integrate into the activities of a design team plus an understanding of the work of the design team. You will be responsible for the quality of your own work. You must understand detailed technical instructions and be able to communicate complex technical information to others.

 

 

Location: Broad Oak (Portsmouth), Cowes, or Great Baddow with hybrid working. Periods of work at the Broad Oak site will be required during certain phases of the project. This will need to apply to the introductory paragraph as well.

 

Salary: Up to £55,800 depending on experience
