Senior Joining Specialist/Metallurgist

Location: Reading /Basingstoke area

Salary: £42,650 - £65,000 (dependent on skills and experience) + Allowance

Working in a highly regulated environment, this role will complement our Joining Development and Manufacturing team in support of all current and future Warhead programmes. The successful candidate will integrate with a team of welding specialists to establish joining techniques across all areas of the business.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities will include:

  • Creation of welding procedures and technical instructions and technical review of procedures
  • Act as subject matter expert on Power Beam Welding to produce high quality joints on critical components
  • Provide knowledge of weld metallurgy and support design of bespoke systems
  • Perform detailed tests, analysing the quality of welds and preparing Customer reports
  • Provide practical support to welding development projects and support shop floor production
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, project teams and management, ensuring appropriate communication of project/programme status
  • Work with others to form high performing teams

Ideal candidates will have a comprehensive knowledge of Electron Beam and Laser Welding techniques together with general knowledge of other joining processes.

Candidates should have a minimum HNC in either Welding & Joining, Metallurgy, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or possess appropriate experience within a relevant field.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
