Who we are:

Here at the Coal Authority, we really are a great team to work with. We’re united in our passion and commitment to make a better future for people and the environment in mining areas.

We carry out a wide variety of essential services from responding to coal mining hazards, to keeping people and the environment safe from mine water pollution.

We are excited about what our future holds. Our work is helping to develop a new sustainable source of renewable energy for the UK. By harnessing the energy from mine water heat, we hope to play a key role towards helping the UK to meet net-zero emissions by 2050.

We truly are a supportive organisation where we all live and breathe our values. We are inclusive, trusted and progressive in everything that we do.

About the role:

We are looking for an ambitious, driven and talented individual to join the Coal Authority as a Contract Performance Manager, to ensure the highest standards of delivery of our operations and maintenance services across our mine water treatment assets within the UK.

The Coal Authority are a successful designer, builder and operator of mine water treatment assets, delivering compliant, cost effective, and reliable treatment solutions for over 27 years.

Reporting to the Principal Contracts Manager you’ll have direct leadership responsibilities for our contractors who are highly skilled and experienced field engineers/plant operators. You’ll be responsible for building great contractor relationships, monitoring and delivering high standards of operational and financial performance, H&S standards, quality and statutory compliance across our sites.

For more information about the role please refer to the attached job description.

About you:

The successful candidate for this fast paced and hands on role will ideally have demonstrable experience with managing NEC contracts along with relevant experience in building strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.

You’ll be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of financial management. Experience in risk assessment, document control, job planning, inspections/auditing, KPI reporting and IT will be desirable.

Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication abilities and a dynamic approach to problem resolution will be required. In addition, the ability to identify areas of the contractors’ and our performance where improvements can be made will be essential.

If you are a proactive leader with a strong customer service focus, take pride and ownership in your contribution, have excellent attention to detail and want to be part of a growing, socially responsible organisation, this could be your next long-term role.

We recognise this role requires a varied skill set and an individuals’ approach and capacity for learning is essential to success in the role. We would like to encourage applicants to apply who feel they meet most of the criteria but may require training and support in one discipline.

Other essential information

Schedule:

Application closing date: Monday 29th August 2022

Application outcome:

We would love to respond to all candidates, however due to the high volumes we receive, only candidates invited to interview will be contacted. Therefore if you have not heard anything within 2 weeks of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful. We do encourage you to keep an eye on our website and see if there are any other roles that may be suitable for you.

Security:

Successful candidates must pass basic security checks and will be subject to UK Immigration requirements.

Changes to the UK’s Immigration following the UK’s departure from the EU

Please note there is now a new immigration system which will apply to people arriving in the UK from 1 January 2021, and EU citizens moving to the UK to work after this date will need to get a visa in advance.

EU citizens applying for a skilled worker visa must now show they have a job offer from an approved employer sponsor to be able to apply.  Currently, the Coal Authority is not an approved employer sponsor, so we will be unable to employ any new EU citizens wishing to work in the UK after 1 January 2021.

EU citizens who were already living and working in the UK before 1 January 2021 may continue to do so, providing they meet all the requirements and they apply to the EU Settlement Scheme before 30 June 2021.  This will mean that they can continue to live the UK after 30 June 2021.  If you are an EU citizen who has lived in the UK for many years or you have a permanent residence document, you still need to apply.
