We are looking for a Senior Technical Lead - Modules. You will join the Modules Group at our facility at Birchwood Park and will be part of a wider team within the Nuclear AMRC. You will lead all aspects of the strategy and technical delivery of modular innovation projects for the nuclear sector. The civil nuclear sector requires thousands of safety-critical manufactured products including reactor pressure vessels, waste containers, mechanical equipment etc. to support the delivery of current and next generation reactors.

Combining your knowledge and interpersonal skills you will provide technical leadership by bringing a variety of manufacturing disciplines together whilst acting as the ‘go-to’ contact for challenges related to modularisation in the nuclear industry.

Day to Day Activities:

• Researching, strategising, applying and demonstrating technologies that can reduce the cost and improve the security of a range of manufacture products for key nuclear organisations looking to deploy their technologies in the sector.

• Provide technical authority on the modularisation processes relating to industry challenges including, but not limited to, machining, welding, non-destructive evaluation, metrology, automation, assembly, factory planning and costing planning.

• Working with the dedicated project manager for delivery of high-quality projects to time and cost as well as the business development manager to develop new business for the centre.This exciting opportunity will provide the chance to travel both nationally and internationally on a regular basis, building your network and contacts and interacting with our partners.

Skills and experience required:

• A good technical degree (mechanical or manufacturing) or can demonstrate an equivalent level of expertise gained through relevant experience.

• The ability to demonstrate expertise in both low and high-volume manufacturing processes and methodologies.

• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, metrology, assembly, Non-Destructive Examination etc.

• Ability to build relationships, communicate and lead effectively whilst promoting inclusion and collegiality.
