Essentially you are the decision maker on HV equipment repairs and fixes on Substations.
You’ll have the challenge of discovering and fixing problems with equipment that weren’t even considered when the equipment was made, 30 or 40 years ago. You’ll feed into asset management regulatory plans, power projects and resolving complex technical issues.
You’ll be the go-to person and point of contact (POC) for operations teams. Site engineers and technicians will come to you with technical or logistical queries. You are their solution provider - with clear, workable advice that enables them to resolve their issues.
You’ll know about equipment, whether from an operational or supplier manufacturing perspective. For example, you might have installed equipment, given advice, or been involved in commissioning equipment. You’ll be working on a variety of projects, including circuit breaker failure protection, identifying redundant wiring circuitry, writing policies, and working on rewriting transmission procedures and instructions.
What you’ll need
You will have some experience of working on a specific asset types, for example, cables, transformers, switch gear, protection and control, or pressure systems. You will have experience of projects where you’ve been in charge of delivering maintenance or asset replacement, undertaking incident analysis in support of the health of engineering, and recommending performance improvements to specifications.
- Minimum HNC in a STEM discipline, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Demonstrable knowledge of HV electrical transmission equipment.
- Proven track record of risk assessing and investigating HV equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong experience of managing multiple stakeholders / Projects.
- Regulatory & Energy Industry Understanding.
