Salary: Band C £25,702 - £27,938 Band D £31,931 - £34,709 per annum (dependent on skills and experience). A Specialist Allowance of up to £2000 per annum is also available for this role.

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Manufacturing Facility provides advanced technology and engineering in support of STFC's funded activities and other high-profile international projects.

We have an opportunity within the Technology Department's Manufacturing Facility for a Technician - Detector Build, to work as part of an already established team, helping to strengthen manufacturing resource to further support all departments within the STFC

As a trusted member of the manufacturing facilities detector build team, you will be working engaging with design and end user scientists to build beam line detectors for ISIS Neutron and Muon Source Technology. You will receive the training to allow you to build detectors, including fibre optic installation and sequence coding, in a dedicated workspace. You will be supported to work both effectively and safely as part of a team, with minimal directional supervision.

Person Specification

Essential for band C

• Proven experience of detailed assembly build.
• Understanding of Health and Safety regulations in the workplace.
• Good interpersonal skills, particularly communication, listening, and problem-solving.
• Proven attention to detail in previous roles.
• A strong sense of conduct, responsibility, and reliability.

Essential for band D

• Certified Mechanical/Engineering Apprenticeship.
• Previous proven experience in detector build and assembly or close matched technology and function.
