WHAT TO EXPECT
We are looking for a EMA Weights Engineer Group Lead to play a crucial role in the strategy and integration of Component weight targets to balance weight across the whole vehicle.
Weight directly affects vehicle efficiency (energy consumption, range etc) and has a significant impact on delivering driven attributes such as performance, ride, handling, etc. Weights Engineering are part of Vehicle Attributes and Vehicle Engineering (VAVE) and are responsible for all JLR vehicles' mass properties. We own vehicle weight throughout the PCDS process.
As the Group Leader (GL) you will lead a team of Weights Engineering Attribute leaders in the delivery of the EMA architecture from initial target setting through to validation at Verification Build and production capability from J1.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Manage overall delivery of EMA Weight and Mass Properties targets, deliverables and workload
Lead issue resolution and status report out up to Engineering Director level in escalation forums
Co-ordinate and chair Design Efficiency Reviews, using teardown data, with engineering functions
Negotiate cross functional and attribute target trading and balancing for Weight
Validate programme metrics generated by EMA team e.g. QOS, RMDV, Panel charts, engineering sign off
Conduct Certification of Masses and Mass Properties ensuring compliance with all requirements
Work with the Weights TS to support the definition and development future strategy for Weights Engineer
Act as a champion for a weights awareness culture through active involvement in deployment of training.
Conduct team 1 to 1s and assisting reports with training and development needs.

Prepared to work autonomously at all sites, establishing and maintaining relations with local staff
Engineering, Maths or Physics, degree qualified
Whole vehicle engineering knowledge and cross functional experience
Experience of working within the Agile framework/methodology
Knowledge of technologies associated with the automotive sector
Microsoft Programmes incl Project, Power Point and Excel
Experience of working with the Dassault tool set
