Material Cost Transformation Manager

WHAT TO EXPECT
As a Material Cost Transformation manager, you will be responsible for driving material cost idea generation and profit improvement through commodity and product teams. Working in current program cycles such as Ignite, or off cycle forward model activity you will lead teams to mature initiatives through to Chief / Lifecycle Chief Engineer acceptance on our products. You will have the opportunity to balance technical and commercial acumen and, given the broad scope, you will get the chance to gain business wide exposure, utilising and enhancing stakeholder management skills up to Board level. You will be able to bring your passion for ‘doing the right thing' for the business, your enthusiasm and curiosity. WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Strong technical and commercial awareness - product cost and profitability focused - leading to the ability to understand and build compelling business cases to drive ‘right for JLR' product decisions onto the carlines for approval.
* Confident with leading teams through structured processes to create cost ideas and opportunities for analysis.
* Experience of project management tools / methods and Agile working methodology - including techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes, including risk management.
* Credibility within cross functional environments, comfortable operating at multiple levels of the business and ability both to collaborate with and to influence others

Desirable:
* Experience of technical engineering role and/or production purchasing
* Experience working in cross functional areas across JLR (or other comparable businesses) - preference for departments matched to the key interactions listed above.
* Experience of idea generation / value analysis methodology
* Major project delivery experience - including use of Agile tools / methods (including JIRA)
* Transformation and change management experience
* Experience of process improvement and Lean thinking, and / or Value Engineering
