What to expect

The Chassis Suspension Function Group is responsible for developing and delivering suspension systems such as, Active Suspension, Active Roll Control, Adaptive Damping and Air Suspension. The purpose of this role is to lead on the technical content and integration of Spring and Damper modules into specific vehicle programmes.

Key Accountabilities

* Lead the engineering design activities for Spring and Damper Modules for agreed projects
* Ensure all programme deliverables are tracked, monitored, delivered and reported accurately and on time at each gateway and organise and lead appropriate interim review events
* Act as primary point of contact for spring damper module assembly suppliers
* Responsible for engineering release and managing engineering design data using JLR systems
* Own and deliver the Engineering elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables
* Negotiate Spring and Damper Subsystem performance targets with Solution Architects and driving dynamics. Decompose these targets to the component engineers and resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets
* Own the compilation and publish Non-Geometrical Data (performance data) for spring and damper modules.
* Own and publish 3D CAD of the spring and damper modules. Develop the 3D CAD designs to ensure they are compatible with performance targets and available technologies.
* Develop the 3D designs to ensure interfaces within the spring damper module and external interfaces to other systems are compatible and cascade these to the component owners
* Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure component designs provide a quality assembly when made in house and for assembly to vehicle.
* Ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met through-out design maturation
* Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

What you'll need

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* Previous experience of delivering suspension damper, coil spring and air spring technologies from concept to launch
* Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
* A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
* Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred

* Previous experience within engineering or programme planning departments
* Able to author and analyse spring and damper models in Catia v5 and v6 including use of kinematic models
* Experience of working within agile scrum methodology
