About The Team

The AWS Product team manage the Digital Intelligence AWS infrastructure, which enables our globally-distributed software engineers. The team is responsible for delivering accounts/environments, as self-managed environments or managed-fabric services, and ensuring that the platform is continually developed to meet the evolving needs of the business and capabilities of the platform. We primarily follow an Infrastructure-as-Code deployment model and Agile delivery processes, for both operational management (including site reliability engineering) and new capability delivery. 

 

About The Role

The AWS cloud engineer will work across our deployed AWS cloud technologies used to build up the services in scope for the AWS Infrastructure product team. This is a multi-functional role that works with a Product Team to deliver business value through a high quality product using optimised-flow delivery models based on Agile practices such as Scrum or Kanban.

Primarily working with AWS cloud infrastructure technologies and day to day operational activities, the engineer will be responsible for the whole design responsibilities also exist within the role, under the supervision and direction of the AWS product architect.  The key aspect of the role will be to endorse, support and maintain re-usable patterns that the team has already built and going to build, utilising infrastructure as code so that future deployments can be delivered through automation and code-reuse.

Its an amazing time to join our team and you'll be supported by a experienced team of specialists in Engineering Operations, Scrum Masters and Information Security to build cloud agnostic patterns delivered through automation.

As Cloud engineer , you will have deep understanding of the AWS infrastructure, its use-cases and how it brings benefits to the users of the service.  He/she will live and breathe the Agile manifesto and will use, processes, tools and culture to continuously improve what they and how they work.

You'll support a critical set of business activities in the cloud:

  • Developing. Configuring, deploying and supporting our infrastructure services. Management of AWS specific services like AWS Accounts, AWS Organisations, VPC Management , CloudFormation, Security Hub , Route 53, Guardduty and Quicksight. 
  • Whilst there will be focus on working with our AWS platform the role will have responsibilities across our entire technology portfolio.
  • Writing scripts in Python, Powershell, Terraform and other automation artefacts to enable future re-use , either within the same platform or other segregated platforms.
  • Working on issues in Jira with rest of the team - building automation processes , creating CloudFormation/serverless templates to deploy strandard environments. 
  • Documentation of deployed systems, scripts and other working practices to enable, re-use and support users across the world.  
  • Support our engineering teams in their use and migration to public cloud platforms.
  • Participation in our on-call rota to support our production systems.
  • Adhere to IT security standards and regulation.
  • Provide product and service direction to the Product Management team and implement these as part of the self-organising team.
  • Review, establish and adhere to appropriate governance and configuration control.
  • Driving issue resolution and resolve underpinning problems.
  • Work with customers to introduce innovation and evolve the product,
  • Work with suppliers, customer, team members and industry peers to continuously improve delivery.
  • Document technical problems & resolutions into format that business can understand.
  • Contribute to protecting the products from technical debt and process debt.
  • A working foundation in process frameworks like, ITIL, Prince2 and Agile with experience in executing these in a highly automotive and high velocity output and consistently changing operational environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing a large multi-account AWS estate.
  • Terraform, Python and Powershell scripting experince.
  • Managing VPC, Cloudformation, CloudWatch, Route53, AWS Config and AWS Control Tower.
  • Experince building standard AWS service for all business users.
  • Experience with various DevOps tools and CI/CD tools like Git, BitBucket, Jenkins etc..,
  • Experience in AWS Security services and Network Services.
  • A working foundation in process frameworks like, ITIL, Prince2 and Agile with experience in executing these in a highly automotive and high velocity output and consistently changing operational environment.

AWS Certifications like - AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect -Associate/Professional
