WHAT TO EXPECT

The Inbound Freight team covers all Inbound Freight activities including Strategy, Planning & Operations.

With responsibility for freight operations, contract management, analysing current and future freight needs, developing process improvements and managing change, the successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the department deliver a robust and cost-effective Inbound Freight Network whilst achieving budgetary and operational objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Support the creation and management of JLR inbound freight budgets ensuring accurate forecasts are maintained and targets delivered
Ensure a robust freight collection plan exists for all material supplied on FCA terms. This should include outbound planning for pallet returns where appropriate
Support and manage all vendor relocations/changes, reviewing operational and commercial impacts and ensuring transition impacts are minimal
Support new model and model year introductions ensuring development of optimised inbound freight plans
Support NP&LP teams by identifying areas of improvement through simulations and cost down initiatives within the launch phase
Support and lead inbound freight initiatives in order to achieve operational and cost benefits
Assist LLP to design, implement and manage re-plans in the freight network to support monthly Operations Strategy build variances. Ensuring optimised 'best cost' solution is delivered
Drive improvements in current service levels via robust meeting cadence and analysis of KPIs managing inbound freight cost and operations and implementing improvements
Ensure all transit parameters are maintained within JLR systems
Provide daily guidance and mediate on a daily basis when unresolved issues arise between LLP, R&FU and/or Vendors
Support market testing and simulation exercises performed by other areas (Purchasing, Logistics Planning etc.)
Support Ignite optimisation programme queries and provide project support and guidance
Responsible for service approval of inbound freight activities in relation to costs
Manage and support non-standard inbound freight activities that arise due to extraordinary circumstances i.e., extreme weather conditions, industrial disputes etc.
Co-Ordinate physical audits of vehicles to measure timeslot adherence, utilisation, packaging and labelling etc.
Ensure performance and adherence to criteria set out in service providers SLAs and technical specifications
Plant shortage management and related issue resolution
Work on strategic initiatives within inbound freight to deliver a cost saving, efficiency improvement or an improved process


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:
Be able to work independently, manage priorities, identify issues and solutions using own initiative, coupled with a desire to make a difference and tenacity to achieve results
Be a strong team player who is prepared to bring a flexible approach to the role, and capable of leading/developing a winning team.
Be able to analyse large Excel data sets and provide detailed reports on packaging and freight KPIs
Have experience of overseas shipping methodology
Understand the supply chain for Freight Planning and demonstrate knowledge of departments customers (both internally and externally)
Be Computer literate and proficient in all relevant business systems, including knowledge of MS Office SAP and CMMS.
Candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
Candidate must hold a full driving license and be willing to travel internationally (some placements may be required) and between sites regularly.


Desirable:
Ideally qualified to degree level
National CPC Qualified
