AWE is currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to provide Engineering capability to the Trials and Test Technology Centre Sub-Function in support of AWE Programmes. Package - £33,850 - c£44,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The Role
This role offers exciting opportunities, working in a modern Peta-Watt Laser facility to research high energy density plasma physics, which occurs at the heart of a nuclear explosion or the interior of a star. Responsibilities of the role include:
Working with science biased teams to develop electrical designs and engineering solutions from the ground up
Producing conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements.
Working closely with technical teams to ensure standards & budgets are met
Coordinating the production and maintenance of electrical drawings
Using AutoCAD to deliver panel layouts, circuit diagrams & BoMs
Contributing to building configuration baselines
Delivering high-quality technical reports and presentations
Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvement
Supporting the Senior Engineer in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities
The hiring manager would be interested in receiving applications from individuals with a Degree/HND/NVQ4 level in STEM vocational qualification, supported by practical experience or equivalent. While we welcome applications from developing Engineers, ideally you will have demonstrable experience in:
Working with complex systems using innovative science and technology
Experience working with safety circuits & machinery
Familiar with electrical load calculations
Working with electrical systems, distributed camera systems, network-controlled systems, PLC controlled systems or motion control systems
Mentoring and coaching others
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
