Body Structures are responsible for the design and development of the Body-less doors, which includes pressings, castings, extrusions and body sealing media for all Jaguar Land Rover models. It also manages the component and proto-type supplier base to ensure timing & project control is maintained.
The department is responsible for developing designs from concept through to production. Our deliverables are released 3D CAD models which demonstrate robustness via FMEAs, FDJ Tracker, DVP's, APQP and ultimately PSW approved parts and meets each programme attribute objectives.
Based primarily in Gaydon, the successful candidate will report into the Body Structures department with matrix responsibility to the Group leader & the Module leader within the projects assigned. There may be a need to work at other Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing & design location to suit department needs.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
As a Lead Engineer (BIW) for Body Structures, your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include the creation of Concept CAD geometry from initial sections and surface data, integration of CAD concepts into Jaguar Land Rover standard AVA (parametric) model templates, and providing CAD support, leading and progressing the design in line with the programme timescales and deliverable cadence.
You will ensure data is up to date and reflects the required levels of maturity at any given point in time, ensuring efficient delivery and update of all AIMS issues assigned to them, and liaise with other areas within Body Engineering, other affected functional areas, suppliers and programme teams, to ensure system compatibility issues are resolved in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the automotive industry and the potential of automotive technology, as well as strong project management capabilities with the ability to multitask. You will be comfortable challenging cross-functionally and at a variety of levels within the business.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification or sufficient experience
Experience of automotive BIW design, stampings and body construction knowledge
Strong knowledge of relevant modelling software (Catia V5 and V6, Enovia, Teamcenter)
Good communication and presentation skills to all levels
Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint
Good team player, who is self-motivated to deliver good quality products
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
Releasing experience and knowledge of Jaguar Land Rover release and change management systems
Experience of problem solving tools e.g. 6 panel, PPS (8D), FMEA, Robustness, etc.
Experience of WERS, AIMs, eFDVS, APQP and PSW processes
