We have an exciting opportunity at the University of Southampton for an Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineer to work within a highly skilled Estates and Facilities maintenance team. One of our strengths is training, to help support your future ambitions, there are always opportunities to broaden your horizons. you will work across a range of building services including BMS, Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Ancillary Systems, Lifts, Hot & Cold-water storage and supply systems and Legionella prevention, Dry Risers & Sprinklers, Compressed air, plus our own CHP District Networks. We are a research university with a variety of different properties ranging from specialist laboratories and clean rooms, world-renowned cutting-edge research facilities, sports and catering outlets, halls of residence accommodation and office spaces. This spans over a vast estate, this role will play a vital part in supporting the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance of Building Services across the University, to keep our estate operational.

You will have excellent technical and communication skills, with the ability to plan and manage your own workload. You will be a positive and proactive problem solver, be able to manage various contracts to ensure the delivery of compliance based planned and reactive maintenance, including supporting other roles in the mechanical management team and the mechanical maintenance operatives.

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a HNC or equivalent experience in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services. You will be familiar with Health & Safety legislation and understand Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and how to apply these in a maintenance environment. You will have experience of building services in a commercial or similar environment. Note on appointment the internal job title will be Assistant Mechanical Engineer (Contracts).
