The purpose of this role is to manage the build of new in-house Cockpits to support subsequent trials, test and validation activities. The role requires the individual to use the various Jaguar Land Rover systems to set up and manage the Instrument Panel and Console BOM, to ensure the correct assemblies are signed off and delivered to the test facilities.

This role is split between Gaydon, Whitley, plus test facilities sites - the successful candidate will need their own transport and be expected to travel between the different sites

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Checking all appropriate Jaguar Land Rover standards are met throughout each build phase
* Responsible for managing the BOM of each individual Cockpit
* Responsible for ensuring each cockpit is built to schedule, to the correct level and quality.
* Creating a detailed Build plans
* Creating and updating Bill of Materials for test parts
* Liaising with purchase, suppliers and PVO team to ensure part prices and quantities are correct.
* Managing list of issues during each build and co-ordinating with Design engineers to resolve.
* Daily interaction with Build/workshop area
* Responsible for keeping workshop area tidy and tools safe.
* Future development of workshop area to incorporate plans of further in-housing.
* Regular interface / programme communication will be to the various Cockpit Module/Lead Leaders.
* Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested


Knowledge, Skills and experience

* Previous experience of managing complex commodity BOM's and prototype part ordering
* Previous experience of prototype-build of plastic, metallic and electrical components.
* Highly skilled in fabrication and re-work of components using various types of tools and machinery.
* Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred
* A good understanding of the AIMS, Digi buck and Design Verification processes are required
* An understanding of Engineering Standards and Test Procedures
* Full driving Licence, as role is split between Gaydon and Whitley, plus test facilities.

* Previous experience within engineering or programme planning departments
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
* A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
