Assistant Regional Technical Lead

£33,500 plus location allowance, and excellent benefits

Based at Hanslope Park near Milton Keynes, MK19 7BH, with the flexibility of hybrid working depending on business need (The right candidate being based in London will be considered)

Free shuttle bus available between central Milton Keynes and Hanslope Park

At FCDO Services, we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Whether we’re fitting embassies with state-of-the-art CCTV or building secure communication sites, our work is vital – and it takes us all around the world.

To deliver for our global customers, it’s important that we have an in-depth understanding of the environment they work in, and we can meet their needs swiftly and efficiently. That’s why, alongside our UK-based teams, we have a network of expert colleagues in our four regional hubs in the Middle East and Africa; Europe and Central Asia; Asia Pacific and The Americas. The impact? It means we’re always in the right place, at the right time.

We’re looking for two Assistant Technical Leads to join our Global Property Support Service’s UK team. We’ll offer extensive training and after that, you may wish to apply for a role overseas at one of our regional hubs, or a different team in the UK. Wherever you are, you’ll play a critical role in keeping people, information and assets safe every day.

Ensure secure environments on an international stage

As an Assistant Technical Lead, you’ll help in making sure the estates we look after are fit for purpose, providing a safe and secure living and working environment for our customers. It means ensuring buildings meet defined standards, and where things can be better, you’ll be the one to research how improvements can be made. Although you’ll be based in the UK, you’ll provide support to our regional hubs – which will include some travel overseas – while developing skills to operate independently as a future Regional Technical Lead.

It’ll see you carry out a range of responsibilities: assist in responding to referrals for property management queries and advice requests; assist, research and support in providing technical advice in all aspects of maintaining the estate overseas; performing compliance assessments, inspecting properties and assessing their condition, and writing up your recommendations. Not only that, but you’ll also have the opportunity to oversee important projects, helping deliver some of the five-year rolling programme of estate improvements.

This is a chance to build your expertise and grow your built environment skills working on a diverse estate: everything from modern skyscrapers in major cities to historical sites of interest in remote locations. None of that will faze you though. In fact, you’ll relish the challenge each place brings.

Bring your skills to a career packed with adventure

With every visit to an Embassy or High Commission, you’ll face things that demand you be resourceful, self-motivated, calm in complex situations, and above all, focused on delivering for our customers. You’ll plan and organise your own trips, so you’ll also need to be comfortable managing your own schedule, with an unwavering energy for travel. It’s a critical role, where organisation and efficiency are key to providing the best possible service.

You’ll represent FCDO Services and, being part of the support desk, may be the first point of contact for estates issues, so great communication skills are a must. You’ll also bring a BTEC Diploma Level 3 or ONC/OND in building construction and/or building services related disciplines, with post-qualification experience.

Be rewarded for your impactful work across continents

There’s plenty we’ll expect of you, but you’ll get a lot back in return. We’ve already mentioned the chance to see parts of the world others wouldn’t normally venture, but that’s just the start. Our training and benefits make sure you’re supported all the way along your career journey.

And it doesn’t stop there. Being a Civil Servant brings a lot of benefits, such as a great pension and an unparalleled sense of pride and purpose, knowing you’re protecting the country’s interests. Plus, you’ll be exposed to exciting career opportunities. Whether that’s moving upwards or across to another role, we’ll support you to grow and progress how you want. Altogether, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees must be security cleared to the highest level, so you’ll need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining. You’ll be able to start work with Security Check (SC) clearance, while Developed Vetting (DV) is a longer-term requirement for the role. You can find out more about vetting on our website: fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
