We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer for electronic and electrical systems to join our Design and Technical Services team at the Department of Engineering to support world-leading research and teaching. The role offers a unique opportunity for a creative engineer to work on an unparalleled variety of projects across the forefront of engineering.

You will provide leadership and manage the Electronics Workshops: its business, production, facilities and technical staff. This will include technical leadership with regard to electronics, software and electrical design and production. You will have both the technical depth and communications skills necessary to engage with academics, staff and students, whether designing experimental equipment, agreeing costs and deadlines, or transferring skills. In addition to this, you will provide safety-related technical advice relating to electronic and electrical systems.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline with, ideally, Chartered Engineer status. You will have experience working in, or with, industry, preferably in a multi-disciplinary design, development and production environment, creating bespoke solutions, using both digital and analogue technologies. A working knowledge of the 18th Edition of BS7671 is desirable. Experience of project planning, project management, budgeting and procurement is required in order to run the Electronics Workshops. You will also have the soft skills and experience to motivate teams, coach team members and reach out to academic and student customers across a large organisation.
