Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working - such as 2 days a week onsite.

The opportunity:

The growing workload within MBDA and increased volatility in all commodity markets, especially the electronics industry, has created an exciting opportunity within our UK Component Engineering Team for an Obsolescence Manager to review, develop and maintain our compliance processes within the Team.

Using your expertise, you will manage the pro-active and reactive obsolescence status of thousands of components that are used in our missile and support equipment designs, supporting our customers to manage identified challenges within their designs.

A team of Component Engineers are available to assist in the collection of all related data using their relationship with all of our suppliers. Working alongside this team, you will be responsible for both regular and ad hoc reporting on obsolescence component statuses.

As the Obsolescence Manager you will be in a unique position where you will have regular contact with all Missile and Equipment Teams, Equipment Centres of Excellence and the Missile Portfolio Group. You will use this to influence the use of correct, coordinated and robust Obsolescence Management across the Company.

You will maintain your expertise in obsolescence areas and ensure that this expertise is effectively passed to others, including participating in design reviews, training and other development activities, as appropriate, enabling MBDA to maintain its capability.

There is also the opportunity to support and lead international obsolescence initiatives, helping define best practice and manage the adoption and adherence of agreed methodologies across the teams on an international scale.

What we're looking for from you:
  • Knowledge and experience with obsolescence management, tools and techniques.
  • Experience or knowledge around the requirements of BS 62402:2001.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate regular face to face and electronic communications with all relevant stakeholders.
  • The ability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.

Nice to have:
  • Knowledge / experience of tools such as Matrix PLM, SAP, Silicon Expert, IHS etc

What to expect:

We offer opportunities for career progression, paid overtime (subject to level), bonus scheme, comprehensive pension package, annual salary review, collaborative working environment and excellent on-site facilities.

We recognise that everyone is unique, and we encourage you to speak to us should you require any advice, support or adjustments throughout our recruitment process. We also welcome applicants who are looking for flexible working arrangements.
