AWE have an exciting opportunity to join our Environmental Team as a Senior Environmental Specialist.

For the last 70 years, AWE has designed, produced, and assured the warheads for the UKs continuous at sea deterrent, as well as support the UK Government in a providing expert advice and services in support of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and nuclear threat reduction. Our mission requires us to deliver unique products and services in a unique environment and we require unique people to help us achieve that.

We operate several sites across the UK with our main sites based in Berkshire. Our activities require us to hold several environmental permits as well as operate under an accredited Environmental Management System. The environment team supports all aspects of the business ensuring compliance, but also embedding sustainable processes into our operations in support of our challenging sustainability targets.

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Package -£41,500-£65,600 per annum

As the Senior Environmental Specialists, you will lead and manage tasks to meet business and personal objectives as part of a multi-functional team.

  • Act as the 'intelligent customer' for environmental issues for specific areas across the management hierarchy.
  • Promote the sustainability vision, embed into every day working and win the hearts and minds of AWE personnel.
  • Produce timely and accurate environmental specialist advice, as a subject matter expert to ensure compliance and improve environmental performance.
  • Derive and analyse environmental performance metrics and report accordingly.
  • Undertake walkthroughs inspections, audits and investigations.
  • Seek opportunities for improvements and to learn from experience.
  • Develop and proactively manage the interface/relationship with internal and external regulators/stakeholders.
  • Produce technical documents/ requirements in support of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure compliance with relevant permit requirements.
