About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Salary: £44,100 - £66,100 (dependent upon experience) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

This role will be mainly responsible for the timely input to projects in the development and pre-construction phases to ensure the scopes of commissioning for the onshore & offshore substations, marine package and turbine package is clearly understood and described within the package contracts pre-tender stage.

The key aspect of the role will be early engagement with the project team and EPC contractors to ensure the stage gate 2 and 3 plans are agreed for all the commissioning activities for new projects.

Health and Safety

Identify Project lessons learnt and recommend the mitigations into new projects, ensure they meet design and employer requirements taking health, safety and welfare and industry good practice, eg G+ Health and Safety Guidelines into consideration and are commissionable safely and in accordance with the industry accepted High Voltage and Wind Turbine Safety Rules.

Plan, Organise and Control Commissioning activities

Plan commissioning activities within the Large Capital Projects Framework, Company guidelines, ISO standards and industry good practice. Preparation and review of commissioning scopes of work in main package contracts including Logistics where required. Participate in HAZOP and HAZID studies.

Completions and Takeover

Work closely with Completions Team and ensure the implementation of the Completions Process is aligned within the package contracts employer requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

Represent SSE and the JV Project at Project and Company level interfacing with the supply chain and key stakeholders such as Transmission System Owners and Operators. Attendance at key offshore wind events to engage with supply chain.



What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Relevant technical education, for example an HNC/HND in engineering (ideally electrical engineering) or equivalent.

- Worked in a technical role and have prior experience of coordinating commissioning & construction activities and managing the associated tasks.

- Experience of construction, commissioning, handover and/or operations for electrical equipment.

- Ideally, but not essential, have previously worked as an electrical engineer on high voltage AC systems.

- Strong personal drive, ability to work on own initiative to time based deadlines and a strong disciplined approach to document creation and review. Ability to develop and draft new processes to support a singular approach in working practices.
