Salary: £30,272 - £35,194 depending on experience + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Our Role

We invest millions of pounds every year to make sure that our network is in the best condition possible to minimise the risk of power cuts and to ensure the safety of the public. During high winds and storms, trees can contact our equipment and cause power cuts, and so we cut them down or trim them back to keep the lights on. As well as installing the latest technologies and carrying out regular maintenance, we have our in-house tree-cutting team, supported by tree cutting contractors, to make sure that trees and vegetation are kept away from our overhead lines and equipment.

We are seeking an Arboriculture Quality and Safety Inspector to join our Highland team who will take overall responsibility for inspecting work carried out by tree cutting contractors to ensure compliance with SSEN clearance specifications.

The Role

As Quality and Safety Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting the performance of utility arboriculture contractors working for SSEN in the Highlands. This key role is the interface between SSEN and utility arboriculture contractors working on our behalf.

The QSI role covers a wide range of functions, key responsibilities include the following:

- Project Management with site inspections on completed works.

- Conducting on-site safety audits and data reporting.

- Customer liaison and support of planned customer interruptions.

- Contractor coaching.

- Surveying, consenting and provision of associated job packs.

Your Skills and Experience

The following skills and attributes will help you to be successful in this role however, some training can be provided for the right candidate:

- Safety and Customer focussed with excellent communication skills.

- Arboriculture / Utility Arboriculture qualification with a detailed understanding of tree species and growth rates.

- Ability to assess, plan and challenge a workforce.

- Ability to identify inefficiencies and be able to suggest and implement improvements.

- A proven understanding of Microsoft Office 365 Applications (SharePoint and Excel) and strong organisational skills and proactive time management are a must.

- Clean driving license.

Contract management experience would also be beneficial.
