Salary: £42,691 - £49,626 + car allowance + a range of other benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible working options available

What is the Role?

As our Electrical Networks Designer/Electrical Engineer, you'll primarily be responsible for completing design work, starting with a high-level scope leading on to detailed installation/costing design, using a suite of engineering standards. Project designs relate to underground cable, overhead line and substation assets. The project portfolio includes connections of customer's renewable energy, battery storage and various demand projects.

Your design will require you to plan, manage, monitor and co-ordinate health and safety in the projects pre-construction phase. This includes line route designs, stage by stage plans, plant and equipment specifications, tendering and tender evaluation. In this role you will:

- Ensure the new connections and network are constructed robustly, cost effectively and to engineering standards.

- Eliminate health, safety and financial risks during the projects lifecycle.

- Ensure customers are provided with an excellent level of customer service.

- Liaise with land agents, local authorities, external design contractors and SSE colleagues.

What do I need?

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience in applying the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 to technically complex projects is essential. Knowledge of electrical network modelling and the NRSWA code of practice would be advantageous, although training will be provided.

You will have first class communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to form and maintain lasting relationships with your stakeholders. You'll have strong negotiation and influencing skills, being able to convey your position in a clear and concise manner.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Qualified to a minimum of HNC level within a relevant subject.

- Previous experience in the design and construction of electrical distribution networks up to 33kV.

- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

It is an essential requirement for this role that you hold a valid UK drivers licence.
